Evaluation Model for Accreditation of Vocational School Management in East Java Indonesia
This study aims to provide a real picture of the management condition of vocational high schools (SMK) in East Java, Indonesia. Accreditation evaluation model is conducted periodically every 5 years. The research method is descriptive quantitative and has been applied to 93 vocational high school subjects in East Java province, Indonesia, Data has been collected during visitation using the IASP-2020 instrument, which is a standardized, reliable, and valid accreditation instrument. The instrument contains 44 question items in 4 answer options, with 35 core items and 9 specialized items. Then the data is verified and triangulated with documentation, observation, and interview data. Visitation was conducted by two assessors assigned by BAN-S/M (National Accreditation Board for Schools and Madrasahs) for two days at the school. The results show that the majority of SMKs in East Java have achieved good to excellent accreditation standards. Of the 93 SMKs evaluated by the National Accreditation Board for Schools and Madrasahs (BAN-S/M) in 2023, 57 SMKs (61%) received A (excellent) grades indicating excellent quality of education, and 32 SMKs (34%) received B (good) grades indicating good quality but still need to be improved. A total of 3 SMKs (3%) received C (fair) grades, and one SMK (1%) was not accredited. However, efforts should still be made to improve the certification and qualifications of teaching staff as well as support facilities in order to optimize the learning environment in East Java province Vocational Schools.
