Leadership styles and personnel performance in a Peruvian brigade
The study seeks to demonstrate the influence of transactional, transformational, and laissez- faire leadership styles on personnel performance. The study was based on a quantitative, cross-sectional approach, with explanatory-correlational scope and non-experimental design. A sample of 177 individuals belonging to the Third Cavalry Brigade of Tacna (Peru) was chosen. The obtained results were evaluated using structural equations applying partial least squares. It was evidenced that there is a 79% influence of transformational leadership on performance, a 32% influence of transactional leadership on performance, and a 7.5% influence of laissez-faire leadership on performance. It is concluded that transformational and transactional leadership styles are associated with military personnel effectiveness.
