Methodology to increase worker safety using the triconditional theory (behavior-based safety) as a complement to an Occupational Health and Safety Management System in the Manufacturing Industry in Peru
Increasing productivity is one of the aspects that companies seek to improve as a strategy to increase their competitiveness; In this sense, maximizing the use of your resources is a fundamental piece, among which is human capital. However, despite these efforts, at the beginning of 2024, a total of 3,070 notifications had been reached, and of the total of notifications received, 97.26% correspond to non-fatal work accidents, 0.55% to fatal accidents, 1.56% to dangerous incidents and 0.62% to occupational diseases, the majority of these occurring in The manufacturing industry constituted 21.99% of the total notifications. Despite the efforts of companies to increase the improvement of processes through Occupational Health and Safety systems such as those established by the ISO 45001:2018 standard, the results can be improved by improving the capabilities and values of workers by guiding these towards a culture of prevention; It is in this sense that the triconditional theory contributes to completing the systems and improving the performance of organizations on average by 11% in addition to the results achieved in companies under occupational health and safety systems.
