PERCEPTIONS OF AIRBORNE CONTAMINANTS HAZARDS ON ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH AS WELL AS ASSOCIATED BEHAVIORS
The contamination occurred as a result of the industrial estate. It has been suggested that individuals who are located in the region are more likely to develop respiratory diseases and cancer as a result of exposure to polluted air that makes the air pollution the most critical problem. This study evaluated the perceptions of airborne contaminants as threats to both the environment and health, as well as the behaviors that are connected with these views. One of the objectives of a study that was carried out in Bangladesh and Pakistan in the year 2024 was to evaluate the influence that environmental attitudes and behaviors have on public health and policy challenges that are caused by poor air quality. Participating in the cross-sectional study were the respondents. The research classified respondents into three distinct income brackets: those with low income, those with middle income, and those with high income. Using Ordinal Logistic Regression, we were able to determine the correlations between high and low incomes and how people perceive the effects of air pollution. We used SPSS 26 to undertake the processing and analysis of the data. More than half of those who participated in the survey (57.8%) expressed concern regarding the potential health dangers posed by environmental pollution. Over sixty percent of those who participated in the survey indicated that they were aware of the dangers posed by airborne pollutants. It was the opinion of 37% of those who participated in the poll that none of the health problems that were stated were connected to environmental concerns. In the reference group, there were people with low, middle, and high incomes who participated. The socioeconomic level does not have any bearing on how people perceive the dangers that airborne pollutants pose to their health. The findings of the cross-sectional study have led to the conclusion that it has provided valuable insights into the public's perceptions of awareness of the hazards posed by airborne contaminants, as well as their connections to chronic illnesses and concerns over the health risks posed by environmental issues. Upon conducting a survey and conducting an analysis, we have discovered that the majority of people are not aware of the health hazards that are related with airborne pollution. The people who have the highest income category have a little higher level of awareness compared to those who have the lowest income group.
