Selection of the joining process to fabricate Spherical Storage Tanks Using analytic hierarchic process
Manufacturing assembly selection are challenging due to numerous joining process and physical and economic factors, often relying on experienced engineers and limited processes. So, the purpose of this study is to present a case study on the topic of the se-lection of joining process.” Using a program programmed via Visual Basic Access, which consists of two stages, it chooses the type of joining operation from among many proposed operations for a specific purpose and under specific conditions. get up the first stage involves excluding processes that are not fully compatible with the required application based on a specific category of criteria. Seven criteria were selected such as material type, thickness, joint geometry, performance type, production rate, application type, and connection location. In the second phase of the program, one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods was used hierarchical analysis to prioritize the joining processes most appropriate for the application among the remaining processes based on a cate-gory of criteria. The results of the program were verified using a real-life case study, which is a spherical tank. The result of the framework methodology reveals that (SMAW) is the optimum welding process for all others for that type of application. The pro-posed framework covers a wider range of applied standards for welding operations with flexibility and more amenability. There-fore, the proposed framework can easily apply to the more complex problems of selecting joining processes in industry.
