Techno-Economic unified OPF Modeling for Optimal Location Identification of VSC-HVDC Converter
This paper illustrates the effectiveness of a newly developed unified optimal power flow (OPF) model for Voltage Source Converter-based High Voltage Direct Current (VSC-HVDC) transmission networks, implemented via the Teaching Learning Based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm. The power transmission network has experienced numerous changes, increasingly incorporating advanced HVDC technology for large-scale power transmission. This trend is anticipated to grow with escalating demands and the expanding availability of renewable energy sources. Detailed planning and efficient operation are crucial for the modern hybrid AC-DC network. The unified OPF model has been devised and evaluated to achieve various techno-economic objectives using the TLBO algorithm. The performance of this model is confirmed through simulations on a modified 5-bus test system and the IEEE-30 bus test system. Additionally, the influence of HVDC controllers on different techno-economic objectives has been thoroughly examined.
