Textile Optimization: Integrated Strategies to Boost Productivity and Employee Motivation in the Era of Nearshoring
One of the primary objectives of businesses is to enhance their productivity, as it contributes to reducing inefficiencies in processes and leads to increased customer satisfaction, thereby enhancing profitability. Consequently, one of the goals of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is to increase their productivity to ensure their growth, with the textile sector being no exception. Faced with rising transportation costs for products manufactured in China, as well as logistical chain distortions caused by COVID-19 and increasing fuel costs, textile consumer markets have opted for nearshoring. Nearshoring involves seeking and supporting nearby suppliers to ensure timely supply and reduce production costs. It is in this context that Peruvian imports experienced a 24% increase in exports during the 2022–2021 period, leading to an increase in job creation and foreign exchange income for Peru. However, countries in the region are seeking to capitalize on this same trend to improve their offerings. Thus, enhancing the productivity of production processes has become a priority for companies wishing to seize the new demand. Consequently, the present research provides a methodology for productivity enhancement based on Lean Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, and Work Motivation.
