The novel vibratory ball mill concept for nanoparticle production
This article discusses the concept of forced vibration in the design of vibratory ball mill machine. The eccentric system produces the translational motion of steel balls and powder tubes. The presence of the SDOF spring-mass system increases the eccentric force. In the initial position, the tube containing the steel ball and powder moves upward due to the eccentric thrust of the shaft until it touches the upper spring. As the cylindrical tube pushes against the top spring, the spring exerts a force that pushes the tube in the opposite direction. The impact and attrition causes the powder to break as expected. As a result, vibratory ball mills based on SDOF forced vibration can be developed as alternative nanomaterial production machines.
