Transformational Leadership and Teacher Performance: The Mediating Roles of Organizational Culture and Organizational Commitment
This study investigates the effect of transformational leadership on teacher performance, with organizational culture and organizational commitment serving as mediating variables. A quantitative survey was conducted among 128 junior high school teachers in East Java, Indonesia. Structural equation modeling based on partial least squares (SEM-PLS) was employed to examine both direct and indirect relationships among the constructs. The results indicate that transformational leadership has a positive and statistically significant effect on teacher performance. In addition, organizational culture and organizational commitment significantly mediate this relationship, suggesting that a supportive cultural context and strong organizational commitment enhance the effectiveness of transformational leadership. Transformational leadership improves teacher performance by fostering a shared vision, strengthening intrinsic motivation, and creating a conducive working environment. These findings highlight the strategic importance of transformational leadership in promoting sustainable teacher performance and supporting the long-term development of educational institutions.
