Wear the Future of Healthcare: Revolutionizing Healthcare with AI-Driven Wearables for Enhanced Health and Wellness
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with wearable technologies has revolutionized healthcare, offering new pathways for real-time health monitoring and predictive analytics. Despite advancements, challenges such as limited personalization, data privacy, and integration into clinical workflows remain prevalent. The review aims to assess the current state of AI-driven wearables in enhancing health and wellness, with a focus on diabetes, cardiovascular health, and elderly care. The novelty of the review lies in its comprehensive evaluation of AI algorithms used in wearables across diverse health applications. A systematic approach was employed to analyze various AI-powered wearable devices, their applications, and clinical outcomes. The systematic review selected high-quality studies from peer-reviewed journals and conferences, focusing on AI-driven wearable technologies in healthcare. Eligible studies included both quantitative and qualitative research on wearable devices for chronic disease management, such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, published between 2022 and 2024. A comprehensive database search identified 164 records, which were screened, leading to the inclusion of 21 studies. Data extraction captured study characteristics, wearable technology details, health applications, and challenges. Findings were synthesized to explore AI integration, health impacts, technological advancements, and prospects and emphasizing personalized health monitoring. The findings highlight the growing effectiveness of these devices in personalized health management and disease prevention, although challenges in data accuracy, integration, and user acceptance persist. AI-powered wearables are transforming healthcare by enabling real-time monitoring and predictive analytics. These devices enhance chronic disease management, including diabetes, cardiovascular health, and elderly care, by providing personalized insights and early warnings. The integration of AI allows for proactive health management, improving outcomes and reducing healthcare system strain. However, challenges like data privacy and system integration remain. The future promises even greater potential, with AI wearables offering more advanced diagnostic capabilities and more efficient, personalized care. The review concludes that AI-driven wearables represent a promising frontier in healthcare, offering significant potential for preventive care, chronic disease management, and personalized medicine. Implications for future research include improving device accuracy, addressing ethical concerns, and exploring new AI applications in mental health and remote patient monitoring. Limitations of the review include the exclusion of non-English literature and studies that focus solely on device development without clinical evidence. Future research should explore real-world applications, longitudinal studies, and the integration of AI wearables into broader healthcare systems to optimize outcomes and user adoption.
