Visible light promoted benzoylation of quinoxalinone-2(1H)ones

Quinoxalinone C-3 functionalized derivatives often have outstanding biological activities, although people have successfully used transition metals and strong oxidants to catalyze the reaction. Such compounds can be obtained in stages, but the conditions of these reactions are relatively harsh. In order to develop synthetic methods that conform to the concept of "green chemistry", other environmentally friendly and original methods. Preparation methods with high subconversion rates, photocatalytic and electrocatalytic synthesis strategies have also been developed in the C-3 functi

“Engraving in aprotic medium” strategy inspired by seawater pitting corrosion toward stabilized Zn anodes

The robustness of the cathodic protection systems utilized for offshore wind monopile foundations depends on the surface condition of the steel as well as the environmental conditions. This study investigated how preexisting biofouling and corrosion products on vertical uncoated steel surfaces extending from the intertidal zone to the buried zone affected the cathodic protection requirements when impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) was applied under tidal conditions. The comparative results between initially clean and previously fouled and corroded panel sets showed that the foulin

Advances in methanobactin

Methanobactin (Mb) is a copper-binding peptide that appears to function as an agent for copper sequestration and uptake in methanotrophs. Mb can also bind and reduce Au(III) to Au(0). In this paper, Au/Al2O3 catalysts prepared by a novel incipient wetness-Mb-mediated bioreduction method were used for glucose oxidation. The catalysts were characterized, and the analysis revealed that very small gold nanoparticles with a particle size <4 nm were prepared by the incipient wetness-Mb-mediated bioreduction method, even at 1.0% Au loading (w/w). The influence of Au loading, calcination tempera

Microbial protein manufacturing: The developing trend and challenge

Microbial proteins, i.e., single-cell proteins or microbial biomass, can be cultivated for food and animal feed due to their high protein content and the fact that they represent a rich source of carbohydrates, minerals, fats, vitamins, and amino acids. Another advantage of single-cell proteins is their rapid production due to the growth rate of microorganisms and the possibility of using agro-industrial waste, residues and by-products for production through this renewable technology. Agro-industrial residues and by-products represent materials obtained from various processes in agriculture

Basic problems and low-carbon technical path of construction spoil recycling

In the face of rampant urbanization, industrialization, and continuous advancements in construction technology, sustainable development in the construction industry becomes increasingly imperative. A promising avenue toward this sustainability is through the adoption of Recycled Construction Materials (RCMs), yet their widespread use remains complex and filled with numerous barriers, signifying an urgent need for the systematic investigation of these obstacles. This study uniquely employs a qualitative PEST (Political, Economic, Social, and Technological) analysis to illuminate the intricat
