Blast resistance improvement of hybrid rice restorer line Fuhui 676 by polygene polymerization

Two popular stable restorer lines, CB 87 R and CB 174 R, were improved for blast resistance through marker-assisted back-cross breeding (MABB). The hybrid rice development program in South India extensively depends on these two restorer lines. However, these restorer lines are highly susceptible to blast disease. To improve the restorer lines for resistance against blasts, we introgressed the broad-spectrum dominant gene Pi54 into these elite restorer lines through two independent crosses. Foreground selection for Pi54 was done by using gene-specific functional marker, Pi54 MAS, at each bac

A mechanical model of neuron axons considering extracellular matrix stiffness

The extracellular matrix plays a key role in the development and regeneration of the nervous system, and abnormal changes in its mechanical properties are related to the occurrence of neurological diseases. are closely related to development. Neurons use their axon terminal growth cones to sense the mechanical properties of the extracellular matrix, and then produce directional migration behavior. This article establishes a cell A cell adhesion-dependent axon mechanical model was used to explore the molecular mechanism by which extracellular matrix stiffness affects the directional migratio

A study on collaborative governance of research integrity in institutions based on integrity construction of Chinese Academy of Sciences as an example

The goal of public security and safety under the concept of sustainable development has been transformed into the maximization of the comprehensive goal of economic, environmental, and social security and safety. The polycentric collaborative governance mode is a crucial approach for the reform of government regulation. Social–ecological resilience has become a typical paradigm in the field of risk governance. Polycentric collaborative governance and safety resilience are the foundation and booster of elevator safety governance. In this paper, we expound on the system elements and mec

Molecular basis of assembly, operation and regulation of a novel anti-phage defense system-RADAR

Bacteria have developed different mechanisms to defend against phages, such as preventing phages from being adsorbed on the surface of host bacteria; through the superinfection exclusion (Sie) block of phage’s nucleic acid injection; by restricting modification (R-M) systems, CRISPR-Cas, aborting infection (Abi) and other defense systems to interfere with the replication of phage genes in the host; through the quorum sensing (QS) enhancement of phage’s resistant effect. At the same time, phages have also evolved a variety of counter-defense strategies, such as degrading extracel

Stem cell spheroid microneedles promote diabetic wound healing

Hydrogels are crosslinked polymer chains with three-dimensional (3D) network structures, which can absorb relatively large amounts of fluid. Because of the high water content, soft structure, and porosity of hydrogels, they closely resemble living tissues. Research in recent years shows that hydrogels have been applied in various fields, such as agriculture, biomaterials, the food industry, drug delivery, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Along with the underlying technology improvements of hydrogel development, hydrogels can be expected to be applied in more fields. Although n
